La aventura de la Carretera Austral comienza desde caleta La Arena (Puerto Montt), luego cruzas el estuario de Reloncaví en transbordador, donde retomas la carretera hasta Hornopirén.
La ruta sigue entre carretera y transbordadores cruzando el Parque Pumalín hasta llegar a Chaitén, donde se puede realizar un trekking al Volcán Chaitén o pescar con mosca en el Lago Yelcho.
La próxima parada es Futaleufú. Sus aguas salvajes lanzaron a la fama a este pequeño pueblito y sus rápidos se han convertido en un destino de categoría mundial para los amantes del rafting.
En sus alrededores es posible realizar caminatas, cabalgatas, paseos en kayak, pesca recreativa o aventurarse en sus caminos transversales.
